Always, in Cişmigiu, people stopped at Eminescu’s Spring, located near the entrance to Cişmigiu, from Ştirbei Vodă street. The monument has a semicircular shape, being made of stone blocks. It is assumed that there was an older spring in this place.
In 2019, a commemorative plaque was installed near Eminescu’s Spring to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the great poet’s death.
Legend has it that…
- “Eminescu used to come to this spring”.
Perhaps the legend of Eminescu’s Spring has some truth. Between the years 1882 – 1883, the editorial office of the newspaper “Timpul”, where Eminescu was editor-in-chief, had moved to Ştirbei Vodă, and the poet lived quite close.
- “Eminescu’s spring has the best water in the entire Capital, it comes from the depths of the earth and has healing properties”.
The authorities assure us that the water is drinkable, respecting all the quality criteria for water delivered to consumers.
